Navaratri fete at Kamakshi Peetham

Amalapuram: Navaratri festival is being celebrated on a grand scale at the Kamakshi Peetham. Hundreds of devotees are thronging the premises for the nine-day festivities.

Peetham head Sri Kamesh Maharshi performed ‘panchamruta abhishekam’ to Sri Ramalingeswara Swami and ‘kshetrapalaka’ Sita Rama and Udipi Krishna on Durgastami on Tuesday. ‘Kumkumarchana’ and ‘homam’ were also performed. Sri Kamesh Maharshi said that the goddess would usually be worshipped as Maha Kali on the first three days, Maha Lakshmi the second three days and as Saraswati on the last three days. Earlier in the day, Sivakesava Murthy idols were installed and pujas performed.
