Weaver, farmer commit suicide

NALGONDA: A jobless weaver, Yele Bhoomaiah (37), and a debt-ridden farmer, Siluveru Kumaraiah (30), committed suicide in Chandur and Gundala mandals of Nalgonda district on Tuesday.
While Bhoomaiah slit open his wrist near his house, Kumaraiah consumed pesticide to end his life.
A native of Gattuppal of Chandur mandal, Bhoomaiah and his family were left with no food for many days.
“His family was surviving on the ‘prasadam’ served at a pandal set up for Devi Navaratri celebrations,” one of the villagers told reporters.
A native of T. Shapuram of Gundala mandal, Kumaraiah suffered financial losses due to the failed borewells sunk to supply water to his two acres of cotton crop.
