People urged to back Congress

Correspondent

M. Satyanarayana Rao

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing B. Satyanarayana has virtually launched his election campaign in Cheepurupalli constituency on Tuesday by appealing to people to support the Congress in the forthcoming elections as “no government in the past had striven for the welfare of the poor and the downtrodden in the State.” Addressing gatherings soon after inaugurations and laying the foundation stones at Merakamudidam and Garividi mandals in the morning, he detailed the welfare schemes such as distribution of old-age pensions, houses to the poor, waiver of loans to farmers and scholarships to BCs.

The minister laid the foundation for SC/ST housing colony consisting of 51 units at Koduru and inaugurated BT Road at Gotnandi village in Garividi mandal. At Peda Puthikavalasa in Merakamudidam mandal, he laid the stone for a roadwork sanctioned under NREGP and addressed party cadres at Sathanavalasa where in his presence a number of TDP cadres joined the Congress.
