CHENNAI: Cognizant Technology Solutions, a global consulting, technology and business process services provider has inaugurated its delivery centre in Budapest, Hungary. The new centre will support Cognizant’s European customers with near-shore services in a similar time zone. It will also leverage techno-functional and multilingual capabilities available in the region, according to a release issued here on Wednesday. Cognizant’s operation in Budapest started earlier this year with Clinical Data Management (CDM) services to AstraZeneca, a leading pharmaceutical company. In addition to AstraZeneca, the new Budapest delivery centre will provide application development and maintenance services to a leading consumer products goods manufacturer, and also provide system architecture and quality assurance services to a re-insurance firm. HeadcountAccording to Eric Terhaerdt, Vice-President of AstraZeneca’s Clinical operations, the Budapest centre employs about 55. Cognizant intends to take this number to about 250 by the end of 2009. Service offeringsFrancisco D’Souza, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant, has stated that the company’s investments in newer global, regional and local delivery centre will help the clients harness optimal talent globally while meeting their requirements and risk preferences. Budapest enables Cognizant to expand its service offerings in Europe.
