Quenching thirst: Manjeera water scheme being launched by MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy in Sangareddy.
SANGAREDDY: The Manjira water supply was formally inaugurated by MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy here on Tuesday. The State government released Rs. 31 crore for supplying water for the residents of the town. Two over head tanks with required capacities were constructed in the old city as well as in new city to meet the requirement. Tenders were already called for taking up the construction of another eight overhead tanks. Pipelines are being laid at newly developed areas. Though the requirement of the area is 12 lakh gallons per day the municipality was able to supply only six lakh gallons. Presently Manjira water will be supplied to those areas where pipelines are already existing. It would take some more time to supply water for the entire town. “Around 70 per cent of the town get Manjira water while the remaining area would be covered in the next two months. Public taps would be established at 50 places so that people need to go to filter bed to fetch water,” Jayaprakash Reddy told The Hindu.
Municipal Chairperson Vijaya Lakshmi, Commissioner Kondaiah participated.
