Stupendous effort: Kuchipudi dancers performing at Venkateswara temple at Brundavan Gardens in Guntur on Monday night to enter the Limca Book of World Records. — GUNTUR: Synchronisation is the key to perfection in group classical dance performance and 108 Kuchipudi dancers from across the State made an attempt to create a record by performing together on a single stage in Guntur on Monday night. The performance coordinated by Kuchipudi dance master K.V. Subrahmanyam turned out to be a festival of colour at Brundavan Gardens on the Venkateswara Swamy temple premises. Hundreds of people thronged the open air auditorium to enjoy the ‘Kuchipudi Nrutya Mahayagam’ organised by Srisai Manjeera Music and Dance Kalaniketan with 40 of its students taking part. Initially they displayed the ‘Ganapathi Kautham’ to ‘Ragamalika’ song in ‘Adi Talam’, followed by Tyagaraja’s Kruti ‘Endaro Mahanubhavulu…’ was performed by 64 danseuses. The programme contained several other performances in different combinations. Those who participated in the event included dance master Chandu’s 14 disciples from Ongole, 10 from Nellore (Gayatri), six of Hymavathi from Ongole, 10 of Omkareswari (Ponnur), seven of Moinudddin from Prodduturu, four of Balaji from Hyderabad, and dance teacher Vijayalakshmi from Hyderabad brought 10 of her disciples. While15 dancers, all disciples of Tripura Sundari, came from Narsaraopet in addition to six children to accompany them from outside.
