Matter of concern

This refers to the busting of an Indian Mujahideen terror module and arrest of 15 terror suspects in Mumbai, Pune and Mangalore. It is a matter of great concern that Mohammed Mansoor Asghar Peerbhoy, who was earning Rs.19 lakh a year, is among them. Why are more people like him getting attracted to religious extremism? The police, instead of eliminating terror suspects in encounters, should get them alive and try to find out the reasons which compel them to go astray. Killing suspects is no way to deal with a misguided few.

Kamal Sani,
Hyderabad

There is ample evidence against the Bajrang Dal, yet it has not been banned. On the other hand, Muslims are picked up at the slightest suspicion and tortured. The investigations are not transparent and there are discrepancies in the accounts given by the media and the investigating agencies. This will only strengthen the extremists and create a breeding ground for terrorists. Politicians must be sensitive to communal issues and get to the root of the problem so that all communities can co-exist. India's strength lies in its unity in diversity, and this makes us special.

Aejaz Ahmed,
Chennai
