BANGALORE: A two-day ‘World Kannada and Cultural Convention 2008,’ jointly organised by the Karnataka Sangha (Qatar) and “Hrudayavahini” newspaper, Mangalore, will be held in Doha, Qatar, from December 19. Addressing presspersons here, president of the World Kannada Cultural Convention Committee K.P. Manjunath Sagar said the aim of the convention was to promote Kannada, and the culture and traditions of Karnataka. As part of the event, cultural programmeswould be held. Mr. Arvind Patil, president of the Karnataka Sangha, Qatar, said that the Global Man Golden Award would be presented to a person who had contributed to the cause of Kannada and culture. A short story writing competition would also be organised. He said that the first, second and third best three stories would get a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively. Stories should be sent to “Hrudayavani,” Raghu Building, Urva Stores, Mangalore-575006 on or before November 15.
