Letters to the Editor
Sourav Ganguly’s move to retire from international cricket after the four-Test series against Australia, though belated, is welcome. As a player who was slow in responding to the demands of one-day cricket, it would have been better had he taken the decision some years ago. Raghu Seshadri, Chennai ‘Dada’, the aggressive face of Indian cricket, will be remembered as a very skilled, dedicated and responsible captain, who led his team through testing times. As a player, his adaptability, confidence and sense of resilience to fight back adversities are worth emulating. No doubt, this ‘tiger of Indian cricket’ deserves a few more years of fruitful cricketing years. Dhanya Johnson, Thrissur I had mixed emotions after reading the news. The writing on the wall was clear and it was just a matter of time before Sourav had to take the decision. He is truly one of the best ODI players India has produced. But all good things have to come to an end. The same is true of Sourav’s cricketing journey. He was one of the greatest captains of the Indian team. People who talk about the new aggressive Team India should give the credit for it to Dada. He changed the attitude of Team India. He openly supported the youngsters. We will truly miss Dada’s aggression. Love him or hate him, you just can’t ignore him. S. Srikanth, Bangalore
