Cotton trading season begins

Staff Reporter

ADILABAD: Almost all the cotton traders and processing units conducted traditional puja in Adilabad signalling the start of cotton trade here though officially October 15 has been notified for commencement of purchase of cotton.

Old custom

This muhurats held by traders is in line with the old custom wherein the cotton trade is started on the auspicious occasion of Dasara. A handful of farmers who have old ties with the traders and processors brought a small quantity of the produce to sell. This activity only symbolised the start of the trade but not in the market yard. Full fledged arrival of cotton will begin on October 15 only.
