Load shedding schedule from today

The TNEB has requested the public to avoid using decorative or neon lights to save electricity


CHENNAI: Load shedding will be implemented in areas in Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts coming under the Chengalpattu Electricity Distribution Circle from Friday, according to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

A press release from the TNEB said the areas would have power cuts for four hours during daytime. An hour of load shedding in the evening and one and a half hours during night will be implemented in the areas if required.

The load shedding schedule will be as follows:

(6 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; 9 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.) - Acharapakkam, Maduranthagam, Karunguzhi, Padappai, Alathur, Moosivakkam, Vaiyavur, Bukkathurai, Padalam, Nugumbal, Chithamur, Orathy, S.V.Chatram and Kilanur.

(6 a.m. to 10 a.m.; 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; 10.30 p.m. to midnight) - Irungattukottai, Thirukazhukundram, Sadras, Nerumbur, Chunambedu and Kadambathur.

(10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Midnight to 1.30 a.m.) - Mambakkam, Kelambakkam, Cheyyur, Koovathur, Pavanjur, Chengalpattu (Anna Nagar, Vedhachalanagar, Vallam, P.V.Kalathur) and Perambakkam.

(10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; 1.30 a.m. to 3 a.m.) - Thiruporur, Veerapuram (Mahindra City), SIPCOT Mambakkam and Thirumazhisai.

(2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.; 3 a.m. to 4.30 a.m.) - Chengalpattu, Maraimalainagar, Guduvanchery and Salavakkam.

(2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.; 4.30 a.m. to 6 a.m.) - Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Mannur, Kunnavakkam, Vallakottai and Thiruninravur.

The release said high-tension industrial consumers must use generators during 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. and use of welding sets is banned during this timeframe.

Three-phase electricity supply would be given for four hours in daytime and six hours in night time. Single phase power supply would be given for the rest of the day except the load shedding hours.

The TNEB has requested the public to avoid using decorative or neon lights to save electricity, the release said.

Kancheepuram reporter writes:

Total hours of power shutdown a day will be increased by another one-and-half hours from Friday.

According to an official release issued from the office of Superintending Engineer (Distribution), Kancheepuram Circle, the power shutdown hitherto effected in three slots a day — for three hours at a stretch and one hour each in different periods — will be changed as follows: for four hours at a stretch, one-and-half hours and one-hour pattern from Friday.

Power supply will remain cut off in the areas covered by the Kancheepuram 110 KV sub-station from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m; between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and from midnight to 1. 30 a.m; for areas coming under Orikkai 110 KV sub-station, from 4-30 a.m. to 6 a.m; between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

For the Neervalur sub-station:

From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m; 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 10-30 p.m; for the Thamal sub-station: From 6 a.m. to 10 a.m; from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 10. 30 p.m. to midnight and for the Kaliyampoondi sub-station: from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m; between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. and from midnight to 1-30 a.m.
