‘Puli veshalu’ competitions

VIZIANAGARAM: Anticipating a large turnout for the Sirimanotsavam of Sri Pydithalli Ammavari jatara this year, the organising committee has decided to conduct competitions in ‘Puli veshalu’ and also organise dramas -- ‘Maaya Bazaar’ on October 13 (Tholellu) and Paathala Bhairavi on October 14 (Sirimanotsavam) by ‘Surabhi’ troupe at Bonkula Dibba, opposite fort.

K. Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, told newsmen on Friday that the competitions were meant to encourage folk art.

Convenor of the organising committee Dola Manmada Kumar said that Rs.1,000 was going to be paid to the winner and the three best performers would be paid Rs. 5,000, 3,000 and 2,000 respectively.
