Creamy layer

It is amusing to see non-OBCs commenting on the enhancement of the income ceiling for purposes of reservation. When reservation was announced as per Mandal recommendations, no income limit was envisaged. Only by a split judgment was the creamy layer concept adopted. This has been opposed by all OBC organisations. Any income limit will only water down the benefit

The argument by Mr. K.A. Mohamed Anis (October 10) is hilarious. There are thousands of castes within the SC/ST/OBCs. Their members marry within their own castes. The caste system has been prevalent for many years and only education can remove it, not reservation.

Deepak Mittal,
