Praja Rajyam to keep Telugu Desam Party, BJP at bay
HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam has asserted that it will not join any coalition in which either the Telugu Desam Party or the Bharatiya Janata Party would be constituents.
The PR would consider alliances with other political parties on the basis of their policies and programmes. “Alliances should be made on the basis of policies and there can be no cut-off dates for doing that,” PR spokesman Parakala Prabhakar said.
He was responding to a query on CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu’s reported remarks that the PR should clarify its stand on the issues raised by the CPI (M) before the commencement of the party’s central committee meeting at Kolkata on October 12.
Conditions
He said PR president Chiranjeevi and other leaders were holding consultations with the CPI (M) as the party felt that there were ideological similarities between the two parties.
The PR would, however, keep itself away if the CPI (M) and the TDP were part of the same platform. Replying to queries on Telangana, Mr. Prabhakar said the PR had better clarity on Telangana than any other political party in the State.
