‘Laddu’ for inmates on Deepavali

ANANTAPUR: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Trust Board Chairman D.K. Adikeshavulu Naidu has urged the officials and elected representatives in the district to bring about awareness among people on the fourth phase of ‘Kalyanamastu’ free mass-marriage programme.

Free darshan

Speaking at an awareness meeting conducted here on Saturday, the TTD Chairman stated that six members including the bride, groom and their parents would be given free cellar darshan tickets as part of the kalyanamastu.

The TTD Chairmen said that those who failed to register for ‘Kalyanamastu’ during the time given , they could register their names even now by approaching the tahsildars concerned or by contacting the Devasthanamas over phone.

On the occasion of Deepavali the TTD was planning to distribute ‘laddus’ and books of Bhagvad Gita among the inmates of all prisons across the State, Mr. Adikeshavulu Naidu said. Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy and Zilla Parishad Chairperson T. Kavitha urged the people to spreads awareness about the TTD’s programme.

Funds sought

The ZP Chairperson also submitted a memorandum to the TTD Chairman seeking Rs. 1 crore for the development of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU). Responding to the request the TTD Chairman said he would examine the proposal positively.

Anantapur Member of Parliament A. Venkatarami Reddy, legislators B. Narayana Reddy and Y. Sivarami Reddy and others were among those present.
