Hubli-Dharwad
HUBLI: Pralhad Joshi, Dharwad North MP, said on Friday that he would be forced to launch an agitation if the railway authorities did not open the Gadag-Bagalkot railway line for traffic by November 1. In a letter to the General Manager of South Western Railway, Praveen Kumar, which was released here, Mr. Joshi said that there was unnecessary delay in the completion of gauge conversion work. DelayMr. Joshi said that initially the railway authorities delayed the work owing to non-release of the State Government’s share of funds for the project. Funds were released soon after he brought the matter to the notice of the then Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, he said. However, even after almost three years, the gauge conversion work had not been completed, the MP said. MeetingsThe MP said that he had met the General Manager of South Western Railway several times and urged him to expedite the work. “I was promised that the work will be completed by July end, but later it was extended to September. The work is yet to be completed,” he added. PleaMr. Joshi urged Mr. Praveen Kumar to take steps to open the railway line for traffic before November 1.
