English lecturers form association

Staff Reporter

Tiruvannamalai: A group of English lecturers on Thursday floated the Tiruvannamalai English Language Teachers’ Association (TELTA).

About 30 lecturers from different colleges, who met here to discuss issues in teaching English, resolved to start an association, sources said. Three main aims have been stipulated for the association - to evolve a methodology of English teaching keeping rural students in mind, to foster research among English teachers apart from conducting seminars and symposiums and to help teachers bring out their articles/works in journals, publish books and TELTA’s own journal.

Each college in Tiruvannamalai district is to have one representative in the executive body. School teachers would also be included in the association in the days to come, the sources added.
