Temple workers to stage fast

MADURAI: Temple workers would stage a fast here on Monday demanding regularisation of contract workers and daily wage labourers.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, S. Poopathy, Regional Secretary, Tamil Nadu Temple Employees Union, warned of a one-day sit-in strike on October 20.

The Family Welfare Fund of Rs. 75,000 given to temple employees should be increased to Rs. 1.50 lakh and made on a par with the amount given to the employees of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.
