Accused, car driver by occupation, made duplicate keys for the car

CHENNAI: The Virugambakkam police on Friday arrested a youth Mohammed Abdullah of Aynavaram for allegedly stealing a car from Natesan Nagar, Virugambakkam on Wednesday. The car was recovered from him.

According to police, Durai, owner of a Tata Indica car, lodged a complaint on Wednesday that the car parked in front of his house was missing. Enquiries showed that a youth had repeatedly come to his house asking for a job as driver. On Wednesday night, the accused, a car driver by occupation, had made duplicate keys for the car.

On Thursday, he parked the stolen vehicle in his sister’s house in Virugambakkam. On Friday, police stopped him for vehicle inspection near a check-post. As his answers were unsatisfactory he was brought to the police station. During further questioning, the youth confessed to having stolen the car.
