Asif hearing adjourned

Mumbai: The IPL Drug Tribunal has decided to adjourn the hearing of the Mohammad Asif case by a month.

For nearly six hours, the Pakistan seamer, along with lawyer Shahid Karim and sports medicine expert Michael Graham appeared before the tribunal — comprising legal counsel Shishir Gupte, medical expert Dr. Ravi Bapat and Sunil Gavaskar — at the Cricket Centre here on Saturday. Asif argued that the IPL Tribunal had no right to prosecute him and that there was another institution to deal with such matters.

The second hearing will probably take place on November 11. Asif has been suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after it was announced first that he had tested positive for a banned substance during the DLF-IPL competition in May-June early this year. — Special Correspondent
