MADURAI: Come November, it is time for The Hindu Young World painting competition. This year, the competition will be conducted at 14 centres -- on November 29, 2008, at Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, and on November 30, 2008, at Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, New Delhi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchirapalli. As in previous years, there is no entry fee or entry form for participation. All those desirous of participating in the competition (juniors – from class IV to class VII and seniors – from class VIII to class X) have to send their drawings (for the preliminary round) to the centres that is nearest to their place of residence or to the centre where they would like to come for the finals. The topics for the preliminary round for the junior category are: Sports Day, In the zoo, Flying kites, Birthday party and for the senior category: Watching a stage play, On a hill station, Bandh/Strike day, Environment day. The preliminary round entries should reach all centres by November 3, 2008, and all those selected for the finals will be sent individual letters containing details about the venue of the competition, timing, etc.
