Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Vice-President of India, inaugurated, on October 11, the Children’s film festival at the Children’s Theatre in the Government Estate at Mount Road, Madras, and said that, if education consisted in a “vision of greatness” that vision could be produced in the minds of children by means of great films. At the same time, he emphasised, it had to be done with great care and discrimination and any lesson they wished to inculcate in children should be done in an unconscious way through an appeal to their sense of beauty, rhythm, music, etc.
