East Godavari sales worth Rs. 17 lakh at Regional Saras
HYDERABAD: Uttar Pradesh achieved the highest sale of DWCRA/self-help group products worth Rs.10.34 lakh at the conclusion of the 12-day Regional Saras-2008 jointly organised by the Union Rural Development Ministry and State Rural Development department at People’s Plaza, Necklace Road.
The other award-winners on the concluding day were: East Godavari, which achieved sales worth Rs.17 lakh, Gujarat (best decorative stall put up by Geetanjali group of Satyavan Varma), and R. Chandrasekharan of Kerala (best State coordinator). A spokesman of the Rural Development department said the sales at stalls put up by SHG women groups from 18 States, represented by 650 members, touched Rs.1.60 crore.
The amount by evening was expected to go up as there was good Sunday crowd, including many foreigners. R. Madhava Rao, Joint Commissioner, Rural Development, gave away the four awards.
