‘Udyog mitras to benefit Congress cadre’

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has alleged that the Government’s decision to appoint ‘Udyog mitras’ in mandals was meant to provide employment to Congress activists and not jobless youth.

At a press conference here on Sunday, TDP leaders A. Revanth Reddy and M. Arvind Kumar Goud charged the Government with ‘indulging in corrupt practices.’ Accusing it of appointing ‘Rythu mitras’ who had no knowledge of agriculture, the leaders alleged that ‘Rythu mitras’ had sold “fake seed and indulged in blackmarketing of fertilizer.”

Similarly, the ‘Arogya mitras’ under the Arogyasri scheme were making patients undergo needless surgeries for financial benefits from corporate hospitals, they alleged.

Referring to the Prajya Rajyam spokesperson’s reported claim that it was the “biggest party”, they observed that it only showed his lack of political understanding. “It is for people to decide whether a party is big or small.”

They hit out at Nava Telangana Praja Party leader T. Devender Goud for stating that he was pained over many issues when he was Home Minister during the TDP regime.

They alleged that he did not speak up then for the sake of power.
