Festival of music and dance from October 19

It is being organised by Ranjani Kala Kendra and BMA

BANGALORE: “Jhenkar Utsav”, a week-long festival of music and dance, will commence here on October 19.

Musicians Ronu Muzumdar, Kadri Gopalnath and others will perform. The festival to be held at different places in the city is being organised by Ranjani Kala Kendra and Bangalore Music Academy.

The programme will commence with the presentation of Bangalore Music Fair Award 2008 to playback singer S.P. Balasubramanyam.

He will also be honoured with “Sangeetha Sarvabhouma” title.

The inaugural function at Gayatri Vihar, Bangalore Palace Ground, will be followed by instrumental fusion by Symphony Orchestra and coordinated by Sri Guru Sound of music.

On October 20, Kumari Prithvi Vokuda, Amrutha Varshini, Priyanka Vardhini and Shruthi Kumar will present Bharatanatya; Kumari Shwetha and group will present Ashtalakshmi ballet. These events will be followed by a vocal recital by Nityasree Mahadevan at Chowdiah Memorial Hall.

On October 21, there will be Carnatic classical music by Sandesh, Tejaswini, Arpit Shanbhog; veena recital by Suma Sudheendra and light music by Shimoga Subbana, at RPC Layout Outdoor Stadium, Vijayanagar.

On October 22, winners of “Yedethumbi Haduvenu” contest will render music, followed by vocal by M.D. Pallavi and party.

The events will be at Ganesha Temple Ground in Nagarbhavi.

There will be a dance duet on October 23 by actor Sridhar and Anuradha at A.D.A Rangamandir. Violinists Kumerashan and Ganeshan will perform at S.S.M.R.V. Dental College, J.P. Nagar on October 24. On the last day, there will be “pancha veena” recital by students of Ranjani Kala Kendra, vocal by Suma Patavardhan, Anupama Srimali, followed by jugalbandi by saxophonists Kadri Gopalanath and Bansurian Ronu Majumdar.
