Some 20,000 marriages performed in first three phases Agencies and NGOs urged to popularise the programme VIZIANAGARAM: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has targeted to perform at least 10,000 marriages in the fourth phase of Kalyanamasthu programme scheduled on November 2 in the State, according to P. Sambasiva Raju and M. Anjaiah, TTD Board members. At a joint press conference here on Monday, they said the TTD had performed 20,000 marriages during the first three phases of the programme. Mr. Raju said TTD Chairman D.K. Adi Kesavulu and Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachari would visit the fort town on October 15 to interact with MPs, MLAs, ZPTCs, MPTCs, tehsildars, MDOs, Lions and Rotary Clubs, mahila sanghams and community organisations in the three north coastal districts to appeal to them to enroll as many couples as possible for the mass marriages The meeting would be held from 3 pm onwards at Ananda Gajapathi Auditorium, he said. Stating that the TTD executive body was constituted with members having social outlook, Dr. Anjaiah said the new body had already organised its first task ‘Brahmotsavams’ in a befitting manner. He said devotees so far offered gold valued over Rs.10 crores for the gold plating of the temple. Srikakulam: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is organizing mass weddings on November 2nd throughout the state for those prospective brides and bride-grooms who are economically weak, irrespective of their religious affiliations, according to T. Anjaiah, Member of the TTD board. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Dr. Anjaiah said in the fourth phase of the mass marriages being conducted in all the districts about 10,000 marriages would be conducted. He appealed to all sections of the people, including government agencies and NGO’s to popularise the solemn event and make the government initiative in this regard a success. He said six persons representing the bride and the bride-groom would be given the VVIP darshan at the TTD temple after the marriage. Besides free wedding feast will be extended to 60 members, including relatives and well-wishers of each couple, who get married on the wedding day.
