All-party meeting a flop: Swamy

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday dubbed the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on the Sri Lankan issue a “flop” exercise bereft of legitimacy in the context of the principal opposition party, the AIADMK, boycotting it. In a statement, Dr. Swamy said as the leader of opposition Jayalalithaa had publicly dismissed the exercise as a hoax while declaring a boycott, the meeting would only involve parties perceived as sympathisers of the LTTE.The all-party initiative was futile also because “mainstream India has decided that the LTTE is part of the problem of Sri Lanka and cannot be a part of any negotiated solution,” he said. — Special Correspondent
