PYC enters super league

Coimbatore: Podanur Youth Club (PYC), thanks to Steve’s (15th & 28th minutes) double strike, defeated Park Engineering Hockey Club 2-1 and qualified for the super league from Pool ‘C’ in the SDAT-CDHA hockey league at the Bharathiar University grounds, here on Monday.

SJN Hockey Club (Kallar) and Flash Hockey Club were the other teams to make it to the super-league stage from their respective pools.

PSG CAS wins

PSG College of Arts and Science (PSG CAS) scored a 100-run win over SNR Sons College and emerged champion of the Bharathiar University inter-zone cricket tournament at the SNR grounds recently.

The scores: Final: PSG CAS 225 for eight in 30 overs (Shajahan 53) bt SNR Sons 125 in 26.4 overs (Sundaramoorthy 50 n.o.) RSPS triumphs

At Udhagamandalam, Riverside Public School defeated St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School by five wickets in the NDCA under-16 inter-School cricket tournament for the Azar Hassan Trophy recently.

The scores:

Under-16: St. Joseph’s 185 for nine in 40 overs (Srijith 50, Pranesh 57, Immanuel five for 14) lost to Riverside Public 188 for five in 37.2 overs (Naveen Chander 47, S. Aravind 76 n.o.)

Under-14: Breeks AISS 98 in 29.2 overs (Yogesh four for 12) lost to The Lawrence School 100 for six in 16.1 overs.
