Ashok Gajapathi Raju offers silk clothes Puli Veshalu, Koya dance added attractions VIZIANAGARAM: Devotees thronged the temple of Sri Pydithalli Ammavaru at Three Lamps Junction to offer prayers to the goddess on the occasion of ‘Tholellu’, on Monday, the festival preceding the Sirimanotsavam of Sri Phydithalli Ammavaru on Tuesday. TDP Polit Bureau Member and hereditary trustee of the temple P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju offered silk clothes to the presiding deity and offered prayers.Lok Sabha Member Botcha Jhansi Lakshmi, TTD Members P. Sambasiva Raju and M. Anjaiah offered silk clothes on behalf of the TTD. Collector G. Rama Narayana Reddy and Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann supervised the arrangements. The entire town wore a festive look. Puli Veshalu, Koya dance and people dressed up in colourful attires were an added attraction to the festival. ‘Ghatas’ of Ammavaru were carried in the night from Vanam temple near Railway Station to the fort where the chief priest offered prayers to ‘Kota Shakti’, the power, which is believed to safeguard the fort. The Ghatas were brought back to the temple at Three Lamps Junction where they were arranged in front of the temple and the priest told the story of the goddess. The seeds that were carried along with the ghatas for worship were distributed among farmers.
