Family alleges that the 8-year-old boy died of head injury inflicted by teacher with a steel scale HYDERABAD: Sixteen days after his eight-year-old ailing son died in hospital, a person approached the police on Monday alleging that the boy succumbed to his head injury allegedly inflicted by the school teacher with a steel scale. Based on a complaint lodged by D. Shankar, a real estate businessman, over his son Kushal’s death, the Narayanguda police registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Indian Penal Code against the management of Narayana Concept School, Himayathnagar. The names of Hindi teacher Laxmi, accused of beating up the boy, class teacher in-charge, Sonali and the principal also figured in the First Information Report. Running temperatureKushal of Suryanagar in Chikkadpally was a fourth standard student of the school. According to Inspector E. Jogaiah, the school teacher sent the boy home on finding that he was running temperature on September 18. Two days later, the boy’s parents admitted him to Narmada hospital in Gandhinagar as he continued to suffer from fever. As Kushal’s condition deteriorated and showed symptoms of dengue, he was later shifted to Lotus Hospital on September 24. The boy died while undergoing treatment on September 26. His parents, however, approached the police on Monday maintaining that their inquiries revealed that Ms. Laxmi hit the boy with a steel scale on his head on September 18 before being sent home for not completing the home work and that had resulted in his death subsequently. “Kushal suffered an injury on the head and his nose bled,” the father complained to police. Shankar, his family members and relatives later demonstrated before the school for over three hours demanding action against the school management.
