Sunil Joshi scalps six

VISAKHAPATNAM: Karnataka’s left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi picked up six wickets against Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Andhra batted well against Hyderabad on the first day of the three-day matches in the quadrangular cricket tournament here on Tuesday.

Joshi and medium-pacer Chetan Williams restricted Sri Lanka to 224 in its first innings at the ACA-VDCA stadium.

Andhra won a good toss at the Port stadium to pile up 369 for seven against Hyderabad.

The scores: Sri Lanka ‘A’ 224 in 67.3 overs (Taranga Taran Witerana 78, Angelo Mathew 46, Sunil Joshi six for 48, Chetan Williams four for 53) vs. Karnataka 72 for no loss in 16 overs (Robin Uthappa 47 batting).

Andhra 369 for seven in 90 overs (H. Vatekar 74, A.S.K. Varma 69, L.N. Prasada Reddy 54, K. Fayaz Ahmed 52) vs. Hyderabad.
