Walk planned for cancer awareness

Special Correspondent

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Acme Round Table 133 and the Valavadi Narayanaswamy Cancer Centre and Coimbatore Cancer Foundation at G. Kuppusamy Naidu Memorial Hospital have organised for October 17 a “Walk for Enlightenment” to generate awareness on cancer.

The organisers said in a press release issued on Tuesday that the aim was to educate the people, especially students, on the prevention of cancer.

They would also be told of the symptoms and that cancer was curable if detected early.

The students would be educated on the harmful effects of tobacco.

The walk would be taken out from the Sivanandha Colony bus terminus to the V.O.C. Park Ground, through 100 Feet Road, Chinnaswamy Naidu Road, Avarampalayam Road, Women’s Polytechnic, Dr. Balasundaram Road and Kerala Club.

The release said members of the public could participate in the walk.
