Mannar Jawahar has urged colleges affiliated to Anna University, Coimbatore, to depute faculty members for the Mission 10X workshops. Announcing the affiliation of the colleges to the programme here on Tuesday, he said that companies expected skill, attitude and knowledge from the students when it recruited them. While knowledge was imparted by the colleges, students had to develop skills and attitude. Wipro Limited created Mission 10X, a non-profit Trust, to promote systematic changes in the current teaching- learning system in engineering education, in association with the academia, to enhance the employability of the graduating engineers. Five-day workshops were organised for the faculty members to improve their capability to train students. Last year, the company trained 1000 students. This year, it planned to train 3,000 and next year 6,000 students. It had allotted Rs. 25 crore this year for this project. “I request all the principals to send the faculty members for the workshop,” he said. This was a certificate programme and the curriculum was developed by Wipro. A release from Anna University said Wipro partnered with Anna University, Chennai for implementing this programme in Tamil Nadu. Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Coimbatore, R.
