GAJWEL (Medak district): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday said the party was committed to the formation of a separate Telangana state and added that the decision was taken after consulting leaders from all the regions.

Addressing a ‘Maha Dharna’ organised by the district unit of the party here against the price rise, he said: “TDP is the party which can deliver what it promised. After two-and-a-half years of discussion in the party and forming the Core Committee, which deliberated the issue in depth, it was decided to go in favour of forming the separate state. In the past, we said it was not possible. Now, we are committed to that.” There was a good response from the people when the TDP president spoke about the Telangana issue.

The list of promises included: allotment of house sites to the poor, construction of houses, free gas cylinders and reduction of gas price for poor, loan waiver to small and marginal farmers, 12-hour uninterrupted quality free power to farm sector, free power in domestic sector to those who are using two bulbs, one fan and TV, Rs. 1,000 to the unemployed, waiver of loans for weavers, low interest loan to the poor and free education to poor children.
