Under the new tariff plan, STD calls would be charged at Rs. 1.50 a minute for the first three minutes each day, while the rest of the day the tariff would drop to just 50 paise a minute for up to 30 minutes.

Similarly, for local calls, for first three minutes of the day calls would be at Re. 1 a minute, then for the rest of the day the tariff would be 50 paise a minute.

Launching the new plan here, Virgin Mobile India Chief Executive Officer M. A. Madhusudan said: “The new tariff plan will help us further increase our share in the urban youth segment. Through a range of services and plans, we are also targeting a 10 per cent market share in the youth segment which is expected to reach $350 billion by 2010.”
