JAIPUR: An agreement signed by the Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi governments on Tuesday for plying of contract carriage vehicles in the National Capital Region (NCR) will facilitate hassle-free movement and exemption from tax for vehicles of Alwar district in the area. The inter-State agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Member-Secretary of the NCR Planning Board Noor Mohammed and Deputy Secretary in the Union Urban Development Ministry Surendra Kumar. An official release here stated that the agreement would exempt contract carriage vehicles, auto-rickshaws, taxis with a seating capacity of five and contract buses from payment of vehicle tax at the borders of States falling in the NCR and save time in their movement. Smooth passageThe agreement will ensure smooth passage of contract carriage vehicles from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana into Alwar district of Rajasthan for tourism, business and personal works. Tourists visiting the famous Sariska wildlife reserve, Alwar, Silisedh and Bhartrihari stand to benefit most. The vehicles going from Alwar district to Gurgaon, Delhi airport, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad will not henceforth be required to pay tax at inter-State borders and will save the time spent in journey. The signatories to the agreement are Rajasthan Principal Transport Secretary S. N. Thanvi, Haryana Finance Commissioner and Principal Transport Secretary Samir Mathur, Delhi Special Transport Commissioner A.K. Chaturvedi and Uttar Pradesh Special Transport Secretary Madhukar Dwivedi. According to the agreement, the vehicles plying in the areas marked in the NCR will have an identical colour and logo and will run on eco-friendly compressed natural gas (CNG). A Radio-frequency identity equipment will be installed in these vehicles to get instant information about their location. The release said vehicles older than 15 years would not be allowed to ply in the NCR. The agreement also fixed the number of auto-rickshaws to be allowed into the four States on a mutual basis on each day. New Delhi Staff Reporter writes: The agreement would0 be valid for the next ten years or till a new agreement is signed among the constituent States. It will be reviewed after five years. The States will take the initiative to computerise the date base of drivers, vehicles, registration and other related information in the NCR on priority basis.
