Planters object to VS’ remarks
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Association of Planters of Kerala has expressed strong reservations about the comments Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan had made about its member, the Kannan Devan Hills Plantations Company (KDHP), the other day.
In a statement here on Thursday, the association said that it was shocked and distressed by the Chief Minister’s “unkind” comment that the KDHP and its predecessor company had encroached upon government land. A comment like this was “totally unwarranted” since the government had a full-fledged machinery to take back any land encroached upon by an individual or a company, the statement said.
