Three children drown in Hemavathi

CHIKMAGALUR: Three children, who were playing on the banks of the Hemavathi at Nalike near Gonibeedu in Mudigere taluk, drowned in the river on Wednesday.

The police gave the names of the children as Kokila (8), daughter of Kalyan Kumar, and Sachin (13) and Sahana (15), children of Mohan Kumar.

The police said that Mr. Mohan Kumar had taken his children to Mr. Kalyan Kumar’s house for Dasara vacation.

It is said that Sachin slipped and fell into the river accidently.

Seeing this, Sahana and Kolila jumped into the river to rescue him.

But all the three drowned, the police said.

The bodies are yet to be recovered.
