THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RM Education Solutions India (RM ESI)—a technopark-based company—has announced this year’s education scholarship for children from economically backward families. This is for the second year running that RM ESI is giving scholarships for students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate education. The maximum amount per candidate is Rs. 50,000 and is paid in the form of tuition fee, a press note issued by the company said. The funding would be for the duration of the courses selected by the candidate. The scheme is limited to natives of Kerala who have scored 75 per cent marks or more in their plus two examinations; applicants should also have applied for or secured admission in a reputed university / college and should be in the ‘Below Poverty Line’ (BPL) category in terms of annual family income. This year, the company received 34 applications and short listed 12 candidates on the basis of the abovementioned criteria. Finally, after a round of interviews, three candidates deemed most deserving of this group were awarded the scholarship. The scholarships for 2008 were given to Ardra Krishnan for the B.Sc Computer Science course at the College of Applied Science, Palakkad, M. Harshini Kumari for the BE course at the Government Engineering College at Hassan in Karnataka and to M. Siyad who secured admission for the B.Tech course at the Sree Chithra Thirunal College of Engineering.
