ONGC officers to strike work

Special Correspondent

KARAIKAL: Officers at the Cauvery Asset of ONGC at Karaikal have said in a press release that they would go on a “complete shutdown” for 24 hours on October 21.

Following the Rao Committee report, the Oil Sector Officers Association (OSOA) had asked for pay revision for officers in the oil sector PSUs, which they claimed were due from 2007.

When talks between the OSOA and the government failed to secure this revision on October 15, the OSOA had decided to undertake a nationwide strike.

The secretary of the OSOA at Karaikal, Vaithilingam, said in a release that all officers had taken up a black badge protest in all ONGC offices, including drilling rigs for a day, and would follow it up with a “work to rule” programme from Friday to Sunday, followed by a complete shutdown on October 21.
