Letters to the Editor
In the article “An agenda for long-term stability” by Dr. Subramanian Swamy (Oct. 17), there is a reference to certain questions asked by AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa and there is a remark “… but the Finance Minister tucked tail and ran away from the challenge.” The statement is totally incorrect. The ten questions posed by Ms. Jayalalithaa were published in a section of the media. The Ministry of Finance, with the approval of the Finance Minister, issued a detailed seven-page response answering each of the ten questions. The response was sent to the media and it was requested that those who had published the statement of Ms. Jayalalithaa may also carry the response. Accordingly, the response was published in a number of newspapers, including Tamil papers. B.S. Chauhan, Addl D-G (M&C), Ministry of Finance, Government of India
