Strictly for Himesh fans

Take two: Himesh Reshmmiya in ‘Karzzzz’

Film: Karzzzz

Cast: Shweta Kumar, Urmila Matondkar, Himesh Reshmmiya

Direction: Satish Kaushik

All that glitters is not gold. But it glitters after all! With his innocent looks and smile the new age Monty (Himesh Reshmmiya) of the new “Karzzzz” rocks! Yes, he rocks your mind with his repeat stage shows without giving you any time to relax. Debutante Shweta Kumar is no match to the innocent and coy Tina Munim from the old “Karz”. This one should have learnt to emote before facing the camera. And how much we wished Himesh had taken some classes too! Urmila Matondkar in her flowing gowns and effective make up takes the cake. She is more glamorous than Simi Garewal but less dignified. Well, can you expect a princess breaking into ‘tandoori nights’ song in a shady restaurant?

Danny as Kabira (Tina’s uncle) who thrives on movie dialogues for his oratory is stuffed in to bring some lighter moments.

But it is Asrani who proves much of a comic relief in the tragic tale of love, betrayal and reincarnation.

The story is given a twist to trigger interest. It has stunning stage décor minus great choreography and foreign locales (Kenya and Cape Town) minus their grandeur. But it does make you shed a tear in the emotional scenes when Monty reunites with his sister (wonder she is as young even after 25 years) and mother (Rohini Hattangadi).

The film is like a comic book that suddenly prompts interest towards the end. Go for it if you like Himesh Reshmmiya and don’t mind his expression-less face. Rest assured, you wouldn’t connect to the cult thriller watching it!
