MADRID: Andy Murray and Roger Federer set-up a re-run of last month’s U.S. Open final as they ploughed to straight-set victories on Friday at the Madrid Masters. Losing New York finalist Murray led the way with his 6-2, 6-2 thrashing of Frenchman Gael Monfils, with second-seeded Federer storming past rising Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3, 6-3. Djokovic out On Thursday, Ivo Karlovic’s aggressive game and ferocious took him to a 7-6(4), 7-6(5) victory over third-seeded Novak Djokovic. Going strong In the Zurich Open, Flavia Pennetta beat Slovenia’s Katarina Srebotnik 7-5, 6-2 to reach the semifinals. The 17th-ranked Italian maintained the form she showed in defeating top-ranked Jelena Jankovic in three sets on Thursday. Pennetta broke her opponent’s serve at 5-5 with a backhand service return then converted her first set point with an ace. She then broke Srebotnik to open the second set and again in the seventh game before sealing the win with a backhand winner.
