TIRUCHI: Jamal Mohammed College (JMC), with an all win record at the end of the league stage, won the title at the Bharathidasan University inter-collegiate basketball tournament here on Saturday. Host Bishop Heber College finished second with two wins and Adaikalamatha secured the third spot with a solitary victory. In the last of the league matches, Jamal Mohammed scored a comfortable 71-37 win over Adaikalamatha. With its players good at offence and defence, Jamal was clearly the better side. Also, penetrating Adaikalamatha’s weak defence was never a problem for the Jamal hoopsters as they opened up a 47-21 lead at the half way mark. Thanks to some sharp shooting and accurate passing, Jamal players continued the good show in the third session. Chances for making a comeback looked bleak for Adaikalamatha after it had conceded a 33-point advantage by the end of the third quarter. The results: League: Jamal Mohammed 53 (Jidesh 13, Mujebar Raguman 11, Ramkumar 10) bt Bishop Heber 20; Adaikalamatha 61 (Sridharan 19, Vijayasekar 12) bt AVC 42 (Rajkumar 12, Ram 11); Bishop Heber 82 (Dinesh Babu 22, Magesh Raja 19, Welgin Joseph 15) bt Adaikalamatha 45 (Kannan 17, Karthikeyan 11); Jamal Mohammed 49 (Jidesh 15, Hariprasath 10) bt AVC 22 (Senthil Kumar 10); Bishop Heber 68 (Dinesh Babu 17, Magesh Raja 15, Prabakaran 10) bt AVC 25; Jamal Mohammed 71 (Jidesh 23, Ramkumar 13) bt Adaikalamatha 37 (Sridharan 13).
