Golden jubilee celebrations

Bangalore: The Divine Light School of the Blind in Whitefield, celebrated 50 years of educating the visually challenged, with much enthusiasm in a daylong programme, abuzz with activity here on Sunday.
“More than a celebration, this is a gathering of all those who have been part of this institution,” said Paul Muddha, convener of the golden jubilee celebrations. Over 200 former students, many teachers and supporters of the institution gathered at the Ecumenical Christian Centre in Whitefield.
The school, started in 1958, has been educating the visually challenged so as to integrate them with mainstream society.
Suryvamshi Das, Commissioner for Disabilities, was the chief guest on the occasion.
