More channels to brighten the tube

Star anchor: Shilpa Chakraborthy hosts shows for ‘Vanita’ as well.

More the merrier, viewers thought and they are not disappointed.

In what can be construed as a record of sorts, three channels came up on a single day and the best part happens to be there is an element of freshness in some of the content.

‘Vanita’ began on a good note with programming that covers a wide gamut of subjects of interest for women viewers and the packaging has a refreshing touch to it. Right from promos, though most of the subjects are ones already dealt by other channels, the treatment and presentation comes with a difference.

However, some subjects as ‘My Mother, My Friend’ are concepts that are sure to catch up with audience. The channel has almost all the big names of industry, from Udaya Bhanu, Shilpa Chakraborthy to Sunita.

‘Local TV’ too appears to have made a positive opening and its shows, even the ones on beauty and fashion promise to stand apart.

It will be interesting to watch it unfold its packaging in coming days but what is being promoted or rolled out has a professional touch.

Asianet’s ‘Sitara’ will be coming out with its real programming in another month’s time.

The channel which has been one of the biggest buyers of Telugu cinema rights in the last one year, seems to be comfortable and is holding back its special packages for the distribution network to fall in place.

Now with the general entertainment channels out, it is the turn of the new news channels to go on air.

Though quite a few are planning to start beaming, some of them will be a reality between November and January next year.
