MAHABUBNAGAR: Deputy leader of Telugu Desam in Assembly N. Janardhan Reddy brushed aside the rumours that Harikrishna, son of late Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, would contest for Assembly from Kalwakurthy constituency from where his father unsuccessfully contested in 1989 elections. Speaking to media persons here on Sunday Mr. Janardhan Reddy said former MLA of his party Jaipal Yadav will be fielded from Kalwakurthy constituency in the ensuing elections. The party has no second thought over this constituency other than Jaipal Yadav, he said. Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that several acres of crops have dried up in the district due to non-supply of adequate power to agriculture sector even though the state has received sufficient rainfall in this monsoon for generating hydro power. He also alleged that due to in efficiency of government the prices of essential commodities have touched the sky. Stating that Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had hoodwinked the people of all sections by giving false promises and failed in all sectors, he said that he would prove irregularities and corruption in Indiramma housing scheme, Indira Prabha, Indiramma tanks and rural employment guaranty scheme which are being implemented in the district. Mr. Janardhan Reddy said that Congress was in the habit of sabotaging Telangana people since 1956. It has hoodwinked the people of Telangana four times since the inception of Andhra Pradesh State. He said that TDP has taken pro-Telangana stand after much debate in and outside the party. He also exudes confidence that TDP will sweep in the ensuing elections and Congress has to satisfy with single digit only. Former Minister P. Chandrasekhar who was also present in the press conference demanded that State government should came out with a white paper with regard to the measures taken to benefit the BCs in the State. Reiterating that his party has decided to give 100 seats to BCs in the ensuing elections, and demanded the Congress party to announce the number of seats it is going to allot to BCs. He appealed to BC leaders in the Congress to revolt against their leadership for doing injustice to BCs in the reconstitution of PCC and other posts. Party leaders Jaipal Yadav, Goverdhan Yadav, Nageshwar Reddy and others were also present.
