GUNTUR: The Telugu Desam Party is preparing to organise Yuva Garjana on a massive scale on a 150-acre plot right opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University campus in Guntur district on November 5 as several members of the Nandamuri family will attend for the first time publicly to campaign for the party. The entire area is being cleared of bushes and land being made conducive to accommodate 12 lakh people they expect for the meet from several districts in the coastal region. Parking slotsParty district president Prattipati Pulla Rao said that some 20,000 vehicles were expected to arrive at the venue for which parking lots were being prepared by hiring some other lands in the vicinity so that there was no traffic congestion on the National Highway No.5. A tractor and other earth moving equipment were being deployed to remove all obstacles on the land. The party district committee would meet at the Arundelpet office on Monday to finalise the 15-odd committees to be constituted to oversee several aspects, Mr. Pulla Rao said. On Saturday, several district leaders like Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, J.R. Pushparaj, Chukka Yesuratnam and Alapati Rajendra Prasad visited the site to make an assessment as to what should be put up for error-free organisation of the event. It was in March 2004 that the party had organised a massive programme at the same venue just before the Assembly elections were conducted with a large number of State leaders attending then. Naidu’s adviceParty president N. Chandrababu Naidu also talked to all leaders in the district and advised them to be united and put all their energies in making this a success by mobilising at least 15 lakh people. Committees would be constituted for transport, accommodation, parking, basic amenities at the venue and for mobilising people from all mandals in the district.
