Over to the battleground

Kurukshetra

Director Major Ravi’s latest flick Kurukshetra is all about valour, sacrifice and triumph. Based on the Kargil war the movie, scripted by the director himself, documents the mental agony, loyalty and patriotism displayed by jawans at a crucial hour.

The movie opens on a lighter note at the border outposts and gradually moves to serious discussions on soldiers’ morale and their commitment. Col. Mahadevan instils confidence in his men and is their driving force. The colonel exposes the unholy nexus between the bureaucracy and politicians, even in the case of rewarding the men who laid down their lives for the nation. The movie also shows the brutalities of the Pakistan army towards the captured Indian soldiers. Without going for melodramatic situations, Major Ravi pulls off successfully a different kind of a war movie.

Cinematographer Loganathan, through long shots, brilliantly captures the winding march of the troops towards their decisive battle.

Siddharth Vipin scores the music. The other lyricist is Girish Puthenchery.

Kurukshetra has been produced by Santhosh Damodar for Damor Cinema.

G. Jayakumar
