Held on rape charge

An eight-year-old girl was raped by a 20-year-old youth at Sanjivayyanagar-II under Kancharapalem police station. The girl was lured to a lonely spot by the boy Veerubabu after the latter’s mother asked her to look for him on Saturday afternoon. On hearing her raise an alarm, a few persons beat up the boy and the girl. On a complaint by the girl’s grandmother, the Fifth Town police registered a case of rape and arrested Veerubabu, according to CI Ravi Prakash. The girl was sent for medical examination.
